CONFERENCE IN COLLABORATION WITH MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY
The upcoming conference with mississippi university is on Resource Mining In The Outer Space: Artemis Accords And Beyond. The Artemis Accords, drafted by US Department of State and NASA, provides a structure for collaboration in civil space exploration and peaceful use of the Moon, Mars, and various other celestial objects like comets and asteroids.Adopted on October 13, 2020 by a coalition of 8 nations, including Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, it is a non-binding, set of 13 provisions which provides a framework for exploitation of resources on the Moon and the way in which the Artemis Programme of NASA will proceed in tandem with other partner nations.
3. BOOK LAUNCH, WORKSHOP AND PANEL DISCUSSION ON SPACE LAW HOSTED WITH CHIEF JUSTICE S.A. BOBDE
We are delighted to announce that the Centre for Air and Space Law of MNLU Mumbai will be conducting a much awaited event in the month of August 2023. A day-long celebration of some of the Centre’s recent publications including a Book, Our Annual International Journal on Air and Space Law and a Panel discussion with a plethora of prestigious scholars and practitioners. Moreover, it is our esteemed honour to host a guest panel of two pioneers of law that are responsible for the inception of our Centre, Ex-Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Justice S.A. Bobde and Ex-Chairman of ISRO and Padma Vibhushan recipient, Dr. K. Kasturirangan. The day will come to an end with a workshop on Aviation law, open to practitioners in the field.

1. SYMPOSIUM ON INTERNATIONAL AIR AND SPACE LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
CRASL, MNLU Mumbai in collaboration with CASL, NUJS Kolkata, a similar academic centre in the field of air and space law hosted a symposium with the theme of International Air and Space law. The hosting centre had invited submission of abstracts on the theme, of “Dispute Settlement in Air and Space Law” on subjects including Space dispute resolution, militarization of space, Intellectual Property Rights in Space, Impact of space disputes on international relations & peace, so on and so forth. This was another event where the centre engaged in policy deliberation by analysing and gauging the legal developments in the field of air, space, and allied industries. The sessions involved stalwart researchers, practitioners as well as academicians in the field present their research and perspective to the attendees. With plenary sessions taken by scholars like Michelle L.D. Hanlon, Dr Maria A. Pozza, Amna Al Owais, Laura Zielinski, Andrea Trimarchi, Ishita Das and Dr. Divya Tyagi, each participant gained an in-depth understanding of many aspects of international air and space dispute resolution, particularly from a legal standpoint.
2. CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT LAW | 26 - 29 January 2023
Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai hosted a Capacity Building Programme on 'International Investment Law' with the academic support of the Centre for Research in Air and Space Law, MNLU Mumbai. We were honoured to have Prof. Prabhash Ranjan, Prof. Sheela Rai, Prof. Wasiq Abass Dar, Prof. Harisankar K Sathyapalan, Prof. Rosmy Joan and Prof. Utkarsh K. Mishra as our course instructors for the four-day intensive and residential programme scheduled from 26th January to 29th January 2023. The 15 hours capacity building programme was deemed a must-attend for early career academics, faculty members, researchers, doctoral scholars and students working in diverse areas of international investment law. 3. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS | 30 April 2022
Centre for Research in Air and Space Law, Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai and Centre of Aviation and Space Laws, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences jointly hosted the International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems on 30th April 2022. In recent years, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones have become a hot topic involving technology, security challenges, rules, and regulations globally due to the remarkable improvements and uses in remote sensing and photogrammetry applications. The Conference was conducted online, through WebEx.

Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai established the Centre for Research in Air & Space Law (CRASL) to engage in policy discourse as a forum for the exchange of ideas on the international law applicable to implementing international air and space law.
​3. ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON PROTECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN OUTER SPACE | 25th March 2022
We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, DPIIT – IPR Chair, MNLU Mumbai in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Intellectual Property and Centre for Research in Air and Space Law, Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai hosted a One Day International Workshop on Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Outer Space (virtual) on 25th March 2022. This workshop focused on intellectual property rights with regard to space activities. The workshop brought together scholars from India and abroad to speak on different thematic areas related to IP and Outer Space. As an effort to make the workshop more inclusive, the registration was made free.
